Jayne Thorne lives a quiet life as a librarian. That us until life throws her a curve ball! She finds magic, adventure, action, intrigue and the unexpected. This story is set in modern times with daring adventure. I felt the plot and pacing was great. The characters are easy to identify with. My attention was captured from beginning to end. A gripping and imaginative tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat... Trust me, you will want more! I give this one 4.5 stars. This book is not what I normally read, so I don’t know how it compares to other books in its genre…but I enjoyed it! It’s super nerdy and bookish and magical…and sexy without doing the deed on page (tastefully handled bedroom scenes). It’s honestly like this book is a mashup of the Mummy, a discovery of witches, the Librarians TV series and your typical wolf shifter books…and Jayne works for the CIA too. It’s a really fun blend of stereotypes that make something unique. Sometimes the plot felt a little contrived or “convenient” (why I took off half a star) but it kept the story zipping along. I will definitely be reading book two to find out what happens next.
